Izaskun Valmaseda (b. Basque Country, Spain) is a self-taught visual artist based in Madrid. Her work lies at the intersection of Fine Art and conceptual photography, combining meticulous aesthetics with strong emotional symbolism.
She began her photographic practice during the 2020 lockdown, after years working in the performing arts and digital content creation. This combination of disciplines shaped her visual, technical, and narrative approach from the very beginning.
Marked by the use of chiaroscuro, symbolic composition, and emotionally restrained atmospheres, her images often turn the body—her own or that of others—into a space for expression. She is especially interested in exploring the tension between beauty and unease, intimacy and staging.
Her work has been exhibited in Spain, Italy, Austria and the Netherlands, and she has collaborated as a featured artist with international brands such as ViewSonic ColorPro.
She currently explores the integration of fine art photography, video art, and digital intervention, with an evolving approach that incorporates tools such as artificial intelligence while maintaining honesty and full creative control throughout each stage of the process.
